Ottery St Mary’s outdoor bowling season got underway last week with an opening game win.

The first friendly of the season was played on Wednesday with Uffculme the opposition.

Ottery won on all six rinks with an overall score of 138-62. The highest winning rink for the Otters was the one of Rodney Bennett, Dave Rose and skip Shirley Fewtrell who landed an empathic 23-4 triumph.

The weather was kind and the visitors were most gracious in defeat as a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon was had by all.

Anyone interested in joining the club and trying their hand at bowls can ring Mike Smith 01404 811195 or Maureen Phillips 01404 813554.
