There has been yet more county success at Ottery St Mary recently, writes Mike Smith.

First up there was the Terry House success in winning a Section Three County Singles final against Roger Woolland of Seaton 21-7 that took him into the last 16 in Devon and he will now play in the County semi-finals on Wednesday, July 9 at either South Molton or Babbacombe.

Next it was the men’s triples team of John Ward, Brian Baker and skip Mike Smith who won through to the section final at Honiton beating a Madeira team 18-15 in the semi-final.

The Ottery trio will now meet another Madeira team on June 15 and the contest will be played out at Honiton.

In a County Trophy match against Sidmouth, Ottery were again successful, this time Not to be outdone, the Ottery ladies have also been enjoying success.

They won their recent Non-Badged Triples League match away to Heavitree. That result means they are now just a single point adrift of Topsham in second place.

Ottery continue to welcome new players to the sport on a Friday evening from 6pm.

The only requirement for all new comers is to attend wearing flat shoes or trainers.

Equipment and coaching will be provided by our resident coach Maureen Phillips, who gives her time and effort (free of charge!), every week come rain or shine.

For more information ring Mike Smith on 01404 811195.
