Faster ground and sunshine have been rarely seen at point to points so far this season but the combination ensured close finishes to the pony racing at the East Cornwall meeting at Great Trethew.
The first Devon and Cornwall point to point pony races of the season take place on Sunday, Feb 3 at the Mid Devon point to point at Black Forest Lodge.

Devon and Cornwall pony race riders, parents and organisers enjoyed an end of season presentation evening at Exeter racecourse. The evening featured a video review of the season courtesy of Jeff Guyett, a filmshow of riders and their ponies in non-racing activities and a quiz with a £50 Harley Equestrian voucher prize organised and sponsored by Colin and Karyn Heard. It was set up as the sport lost its annual finals when Torrington Farmers’ point to point was cancelled and the area awards are normally presented after racing there.
There is a chance to catch top jockeys of the future in action at Newton Abbot races on Sunday, July 22, as two Charles Owen series races will be held at the end of the normal card.
