Sidmouth and East Devon fencers make strong start to new season

Fencers from the Sidmouth and East Devon Fencing Club made an impressive start in the first competitions of the new season.

At the South West Championships, Grace Williams from Sidmouth came first in the ladies’ foil competition, whilst, in the men’s event, Finn Manning, from Clyst St Mary finished fifth.

There were equally impressive results at the Devon Age Group Foil competition with fencers from the club winning no fewer than six gold medals.

The golden success came from Alex Moore (Under-9 boys); Toby Moore (Under-11 boys); Alecia Ranson (Under-13 girls); Kenan Palmer (Under-5 boys); Isabella Synek-Herd (Under-15 girls) and Finn Manning (Under-17 boys).

Another club member, Matty Robinson, finished a most commendable fifth.
