Sidmouth Leisure Centre to stage Gymnastics Festival this weekend

Sidmouth leisure Centre will be holding a Gymnastics Festival on Saturday (February 8).

The event runs from 9am through until 5pm.

This year the festival will include gymnasts from Broadclyst, Crediton, Colyton and Sidmouth Leisure Centre.

One of the event organisers, Somer Manly said: “To give the competition a broader range we have introduced more gymnastic elements; vault and beam for the girl and parallel bars and vault for the boys. This challenges competitors in more components of the sport.”

Over 100 entrants with gymnasts varying in age from four to 15 will compete.

Gymnasts are judged according to their age and routines have been choreographed based upon this and their own ability. Looking at strength, flexibility, skill, balance and performance judges will score on each piece of equipment and scores will be totalled for the results

All Gymnasts have been working hard over the last couple of months to learn routines and our coaches have been working extremely hard to help them.

There will be a cake stall with tea and coffee set up on the balcony from 11am run by volunteer parents (all proceeds will go towards new equipment for Sidmouth Leisure Centre).
