Small Boy wins Michelmores medal event at Sidmouth

The Michelmores medal was well contested at Sidmouth, writes Chris Roberts.

Division One was won by Lewis Perry with a sublime round of golf of driving into fairways, iron onto green and two putts giving him a gross score of 67 net 63.

Lewis was my playing partner for the day and on several occasions I did point out golf is much more fun playing in the trees and the rough and it gets a bit boring just hitting the ball straight!

The ever-present John Jones finished second with a level round of 66 and lowest gross net 64.

Mr Jones sees his handicap down to one-point-seven!

Former captain Paul Hitchcock secured third spot also with a net 64 missing out on countback to John.

Division Two went to Nick Baker with a gross score of 84 net 68 which included some steady scoring.

In hot pursuit was Lester Wilmington with the lowest gross score of 81 net 69. Third spot went surprisingly to myself, Mr over golfed, with a net 70.

In Division Three only three players started and, with two completing their cards, the medal goes to Charlie Ralls with a net score of 74.

Second place went to Paul Shoobridge with a net 77 whilst third place would have gone Ken Mylne if he had completed his card!
