Archant

SOHC 0, PGSOB A 1

Following their 3-1 victory the week before against Okehampton the SOHC men’s senior team were looking to keep the momentum going in their latest league outing.

SOHC started well, keeping hold of the ball, in what is fast becoming their preferred style of play, putting the visitors under pressure.

However, as much as the home play was adventurous and honest, the visitors carried a real threat with pace in the final third.

The SOHC ball retention led to the winning of a string of short corners all of which proved fruitless due to the exceptional goal keeping display from the visiting goalkeeper who made two exceptional saves to deny well-placed drag flicks from Mikey Bell.

The first half saw a number of chances go begging for the home team with balls narrowly going wide of the goal and with the away team’s heroic defence putting in last ditch tackles.

Just before the break a slick counter-attack saw the visitor’s take the lead, despite Ade Brooker’s valiant attempt to stop the ball from crossing the goal line.

The second half again saw the vast majority of play occur in the PGSOB half and just like the first half the PGSOB goalie pulled off some outstanding saves, including a effort from Matt Ogborne when he was put into space at the top of the D by Will Galantree, deflected efforts from Rick Robinson and Jim Harris going narrowly wide and a superb double save denying Mikey Bell. Frustratingly for Sidmouth and Ottery the score line remained the same despite a dominant display.

On Saturday SOHC look to bounce back when they make the long trip to Penzance.
