Henry Atkins, the stand out rider of the day, made his first every appearance in the junior league scene and raced to second place in the A final.

In the Under-16 racing it showed just how much ‘rough and tumble’ there is in the sport!

There were four home riders involved with Sam Riddle scoring 13 points and he went into the A final where he finished third after a do-or-die pass on the last bend of the last lap!

Team mate Jack Herbert, also made the A final finishing on 14 points, after picking up the pieces during the qualifying races and he finished second behind Callum Albin of Poole. Connor Tucker scored seven points, securing a place in the B final where he finished third after making a good inside pass on Jordan Bradford of Poole. Robert Croal, the unluckiest rider of the day after his handle bar grip falling off in his first race, came off and was unable to finish the race, he then found himself at the back in his second race and then, after making a do-or-die move in his third, he come down on his face and as a result was excluded as cause of the stoppage!

Croal went on to win his last race and finished second in the B Final behind Jay Briggs of Poole.

Results: B final; 1, Jay Briggs – Poole; 2, Robert Croal – Exeter; 3, Connor Tucker – Exeter; 4, Jordan Bradford – Poole.

A final: 1, Callum Albin – Poole; 2, Jack Herbert – Exeter; 3, Sam Riddle – Exeter; 4, Adam Bennett - Newport.

The day ended with the ladies’ category. Exeter had two riders involved.

Lauren Hookway was looking to regain the title she won two years ago and was edged out from 12 months ago! She scored 14 points in the qualifying races and secured the favoured grid one for the final. Her nearest rival, Sandra Tamborska drew the unfavoured grid four. From the gate Hookway lead the race and secured the A final win and was on track to gain back her title. Tonicha Heyde also competed in this category for the Aces. After having a heavy fall a few weeks ago she got back on the bike and scored 11 points, this was enough to see her through to the A final where she finished third behind Hookway and Tamborska.

Results: B final: 1, Macie Schmidtt – Poole; 2, Chloe Albin – Poole; 3, Bethany Briggs – Poole; 4, Alison Lindfield – Poole.

A final: 1, Lauren Hookway – Exeter; 2, Sandra Tamborska – Poole; 3, Tonicha Heyde – Exeter; 4, Krissy Mines – Poole.

Credit must go to all the Exeter rider for finishing in second place behind the title holders Poole. Also a massive credit must go to those who where working on and off the track. With out these people, the day wouldn’t have gone ahead. The riders did the little club from Devon proud.
