Awliscombe singer/songwriter Cole Stacey will be staging the first date of a five-week national tour at St Paul’s Church, Honiton, on Thursday, February 2.
Having performed sell-out performances all over the country and opened for folk/acoustic greats Cara Dillon, Martin Simpson and Hayseed Dixie, Cole has now just been asked to support Midge Ure in Scotland in February.
He has chosen to make the only Devon performance on the tour in Honiton where he grew up and went to school.
He said: “I wanted to do something different for this concert, it’s a new year, new sound and a new tour for us and I wanted to say thank you to the local community for their amazing support by doing a gig right on their doorstep.”
Throughout the tour, Cole is joined by the supremely talented violinist/multi-instrumentalist Joseph O’Keefe, originally from Talaton.
Despite only officially turning professional last summer, Joseph has a string of awards and notable appearances (including West Holts Main stage at Glastonbury Festival) to his name and spends much of his time in London and working as a session musician to many big names.
Cole said: “It’s a huge joy and privilege for me to be working with Joseph on this tour. We have worked closely for many years now and his subtle genius never fails to amaze me and audiences wherever we perform.”
With amazing support recently from Acoustic Magazine describing Cole as “Delightfully Strong… quality musicianship and passion in equal measure” and headlines shows, festivals and European tours booked, it is certain to be a big year ahead for one of Devon’s rising music stars.
Support on the night comes from talented, young, up and coming East Devon songstress Alex Gregory who Cole has invited personally to open the show after seeing her perform a great set at Exmouth Festival.
The concert is at 7.30pm, with tickets costing £5/(£4) available on the door or they can be reserved by calling 01404 47254 or email contact@colestacey.net
