A crowdfunder has been launched to help fund free music performances and workshops at this year's Sidmouth Jazz and Blues Festival.

Organisers have set a target of £15,000 to enable them to put on the full programme of entertainment and activities at the festival, taking place from Saturday, May 27 until Monday 29 - the bank holiday weekend.

Headline acts Curtis Stigers, The Brand New Heavies, Mud Morganfield and Courtney Pine have been announced for the ticketed concerts. But festival director Ian Bowden is appealing for public support to fund the outdoor stage performances at Blackmore Gardens, street music, live shows at other venues, and workshops.

The Jazz and Blues Festival took place for the first time last year, with headliners Mica Paris, the Ronnie Scott’s All Stars, Ian Siegal and Joe Stilgoe, along with several free music events.
