Ottery St Mary Ladies produced a thoroughly efficient display to win 3-1 at Halwill in the Devon Women’s Football League.

The Otters made a super start and surged into the when Leah Gething fed a pass to Kaitlyn Carthew, who continued her fine opening to the season with a delightful curled finish.

A deserved second arrived when a Carthew corner picked out the head of captain Ebony Lacey, who had the presence of mind to nod the ball back for Kiera Townsend to lash a half-volley into the Halwill net.

The Otters saved a penalty before sealing the victory in sensational style, Gemma Aspinall beautifully engineering a move that was completed by a stunning strike from Stacy Rogers.

Halwill did grab a consolation for their efforts but the three points deservedly went home to Ottery, with Gething picking up Player of the Match for a top-class midfield display.
