Only one game in the Devon Women’s Football League escaped the torrential rain and heavy showers, which left many pitches waterlogged, and those teams that shared with Saturday clubs were faced with pitches that resembled a ploughed field, leaving them unsuitable for play.

The only match that did take place was due to the co-operation of both teams, as Ottery St Mary travelled to play Seaton Town in a reversal of fixtures, with the Otters’ home pitch unplayable.

The switch worked in Ottery's favour, as they won by two goals to one to move up to third in the division, albeit having played more games than the teams around them. Kaitlyn Carthew and Stacey Rogers hit the target for Ottery, with Jess Hodge notching the reply for Seaton Town.

It was another terrific contest between two good sides and, hopefully, the weather will be kinder this weekend.
