It was a great weekend for Ottery St Mary Ladies in the North & East Division of the Devon Women’s Football League and goal-scoring entertainment was top of the football menu.

The Otters moved to the dizzy heights of second place, albeit having played more games. Their home game against Uni Exeter was a high-scoring affair, which they eventually won 7 - 3.

Gemma Aspinall and Leah Gething both scored twice, with Meghan Simmons, Ruby Gouldthorpe and Stacey Rogers adding to the total. Lauren Lankhuijzen, Simone Williams and Emily Serridge replied for the students.

The result was yet another step forward for Ottery, who beat Seaton Town in the local derby a week earlier, Kaitlyn Carthew and Rogers scoring the goals on that occasion. The victory was made even sweeter by the fact the Otters lost a couple of players to the sin bin during the game.
