Sidmouth and Ottery Hockey Club recorded more victories than defeats on what was a busy weekend, with all eight teams playing, writes Andrew Coley.

The women’s first team entertained Bridgwater 1 at home and claimed a good win, with a result of 3-1. The second team did even better by maintaining a clean sheet when they played away at Exeter 4 and returned home with a 0-3 victory.

The third team didn’t fare so well when they travelled to Exeter and Culm Vale Hornets 2, losing 2-0. And the fourths were up against a dominant Exeter 5 team in a home fixture, with the visitors winning 0-6.

On the men’s side of the club, the first team travelled to Taunton Vale 3 and claimed all the points with a 2-5 victory. The second team competed well against Minehead 2 but it was the visitors who claimed the points with a 1-4 win, although the game was closer than the score line suggests.

Finally, the third team took on the fourth team development side in a league fixture and as per the league rules for development sides, the official result was 0-0. In reality, in a highly competitive game, the unofficial result was 2-2.
