Both the men’s and women’s first teams of Sidmouth and Ottery Hockey Club recorded good wins at the weekend, writes Andrew Coley.
The women’s firsts travelled to Weymouth 1 and came away with an emphatic 2-10 victory, while the men’s firsts beat University of Exeter 4-0 at home.
The men’s 2nds enjoyed an entertaining 3-3 draw at Bridgwater 2nds but the women’s 2nds did not fare so well in a home game against Isca and Exeter University 6, with the visitors winning 1-7.
The third teams had varying fortunes with the women’s team losing 0-6 at home against Taw Valley 1, while the men’s team travelled to Totnes to take on Ashmoor 4 development side, which meant the official result was 0-0 but the visitors did win 0-4.
And at the fourth team level, the men’s side had no fixture and the women’s side had to forfeit their game against Taw Valley 2, so they officially lost 5-0.
