300 attend legal action meeting against South West Water meeting

Nearly 300 people attended a public meeting on Tuesday evening, to hear more about joining a legal group action against South West Water.  Leigh Day solicitors (who are acting on behalf of concerned businesses and residents) confirmed that anyone who has been affected by pollution incidents can join the claim - this includes businesses and beach users  (e.g. swimmers, kite surfers, rowers, sailors or dog walkers). The legal action will focus on "public nuisance" which is defined as something which endangers “the life, health, property, morals or comfort of the public or obstructs a public right”.  People do not have to live in Exmouth to join the claim - they need to be a beach user, or run a business which relies on people who use the beach.

Richard Foord joins campaign for new railway stations

The two MPs for Honiton and Sidmouth and Taunton and Wellington are pressing the case for a new railway station at Wellington and Cullompton. Gideon Amos and Richard Foord met with the Minister for Rail, Lord Peter Hendy, at his office on September 19, to discuss the Wellington and Cullompton Stations Campaign.

Owner of The Bell Broadway say final goodbye after seven years

Owner of The Bell, Broadway Rob Doak is closing the pub and stepping down as owner on Monday. The final day will be Monday September 23, Rob says until then 'it’s business as usual.' A final party will take place with live music and Happy Hour on Sunday 22nd from 5pm until late.

Town Council invites Secretary of State to Exmouth after recent sewage bursts

Exmouth Town Council is writing to The Rt. Hon. Steve Reed, Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. This follows on from the recent pollution incident in Exmouth,Exmouth Town Council says it finds the 'failings of the sewer system unacceptable' and shares the views that have been expressed by many of the Town’s residents.
