Sir – From time to time, letters are published in the Herald suggesting that seagulls are culled. I hope this never happens. Seagulls are part of the character of the seaside. Yes, they can be a nuisance, but then so can people.

Look on the bright side - it was once considered lucky for a bird dropping to land upon a person!
