Building appeal

SIR - I think that I can speak for many people in Sidmouth, when I say to local councillors consider, debate, decide on and publish your plans for how the narrow roads in Sidmouth can be made to deal with the extra traffic caused by new development and where extra car parking to deal with the many new vehicles owned by the new residents will be provided, BEFORE granting permission for further building.

Also, before the usual ‘affordable housing’ excuse is trotted out again, conduct a survey to establish how many people at present living in Sidmouth, or who were born in Sidmouth but have been unable to afford to purchase a house here, wish to buy one of these properties and limit the sales to them.

Remember that you were elected as our representatives, not the property developers.
