MADAM - On behalf of my sons, Dan and Ben, and myself, I would like to give our thanks to everyone who contributed to our charity football match and family fun day in support of the charity Breast Cancer Care, on Sunday, April 26.

Thanks to the efforts of people like Mel and Dawn Coombs, together with many others from Sidbury United Football Club as well as the local media and numerous friends and family, we managed to stage an event that attracted 1,200 people, to watch a match between Sidbury United FC and an Exeter City All Stars team.

Thanks to local businesses, organisations and individuals who sponsored the event by either buying advertising space in the programme, making direct contributions or by donating raffle prizes. Roger Trivett of Acanthus Press did a great job in designing and printing an excellent quality match day programme for us.

When we first started planning this event we thought we would raise around 500, but the whole thing has grown over the last few months so we knew this would be exceeded but we never imagined we would reach ,7000, which is what we achieved.

As well as this fantastic total, it's been rewarding to hear so many people saying they enjoyed the event and commenting on the high standard of football played by both sides. Maybe we will think about doing something next year, but making it bigger and better. Once again thank you to everyone who contributed.
