SIR You failed to mention roads in your invitation to write on the state of footpaths (End of sleep loss, Herald, January 25).

SIR - You failed to mention roads in your invitation to write on the state of footpaths (End of sleep loss, Herald, January 25)I live in Radway, better known to some residents as Sidmouth's 'Third World Road'. It is very rarely swept - possibly 2006 was the last time - and the road has not had any work carried out on it for seven years at least. It is very undulating, breaking up in some areas and has been known to flood due, possibly, to lack of gullies or blocked gullies.Twice I have written to Devon Count Council's highways department which failed to reply, and twice to our county councillor Mr Hughes but, again, no reply. An East Devon District Council representative told me that, due to people working in the town and therefore parking in Radway, there was very little that could be done.I look forward to a reply from our representative.PB WellsGable CottageRadwaySidmouth
