MADAM - Reading about Michael Edgecumbe being offered the chance to run a cinema in Sidbury brought back memories to me. His mother, who I called Auntie Daisy, as she was related to my father, was a very good-looking woman and the story goes that, in the 1920's, a film director wanted her to be in the silent movies. Her parents wouldn't let her go. In those days you didn't go against your parents' wishes. Perhaps Michael will remember more about the story.
