Is flood avoidance work too much of a drain?
MADAM - In my earlier years, I used to observe, on a regular basis, tankers siphoning up the dirt and debris from the road drains, so as to keep them flowing freely.

If I want to see such a tanker now, do I have to visit a transport museum, or, perhaps, a toy fair with a miniature version (preferably boxed)?
Now that we are approaching (or, maybe we have already left) the rainy season, would it not be prudent to reinstate frequent clearing out of the blocked drains in order to minimise flooding? Or is this too much of a drain on the council's resources?
