SIR - I have just had the great pleasure of a short stay in Sidmouth, a town I have visited regularly over the past 15 years, and which I find increasingly attractive with every visit.
To my horror, and disbelief, I heard of the EDDC’s plan to sell for development the beautiful land at The Knowle, and through the medium of your paper, but as an outsider, I give my whole-hearted support to the ‘Save our Sidmouth’ campaign, and applaud the 4,000 people who marched in October last year, in protest against the EDDC’s proposal.
The ruination of such a beautiful area of land and the felling of so many wonderful trees must not be allowed to happen. Sidmouth is too unique a town to permit such a development.
