SIR - I know that libraries are no longer quiet places where one can relax, have a bit of peace, choose something to read or maybe exchange a few words with another human being. They have other functions now.

But do library users in Sidmouth want ‘the process to be quicker’? I question the ‘easier’ bit. Is it so irksome to stand in a queue for a few minutes? Is everyone in such a hurry?

There must be more useful and vital ways to spend 80,000 at a time when so many things are being cut back.
