SIR - There is a constant problem with litter being left along the lane that runs past the back of the College.

The children congregate here in the morning and at lunch time, leaving all their rubbish in the alleyway – on most days there are half empty pasta containers, tobacco pouches and cigarette butts all over the floor. Would it really be too much to ask for them to pick up their own rubbish, after all there is a bin right by the gate into the college!

Parents – have a word with your children. These are basic things which you must instil in your children or Sidmouth will not be the clean place we know and love.

PS: I have telephoned the college twice about this – the message obviously isn’t getting through. Perhaps checking regularly to catch the culprits would be an idea.
