SIR - I found the article in the Herald of January 11 about the late RH Delderfield most interesting, and it brought back a few memories. How many will remember his play Worm's Eye View live on stage at the Radway Cinema? In August 1946 (?), it was performed by the original London cast. They included Kathleen Harrison, Ronald Shiner, Tommy Trinder, Jack Train and Wally Patch, (no relation to our Trevor?) it was the most hilarious show I ever saw.The manager at this time was a Mr Jim Webster, a very flamboyant character. He started Saturday morning cinema for children and he also proposed opening Sunday evenings. His next live show was to be A Street Car Named Desire. This caused such controversy in the town and the late Rev Cooper of All Saints Church wanted a petition got up to stop the show being put on, but eventually the show went on for a week.Gerald CounterYork Street Sidmouth
