SIR - With EDDC voicing a possible move from Sidmouth, I believe that it is time to ask, on behalf of many people in Sidmouth, for a simple, unambiguous, firm promise from the council that no part of the buildings nor present grounds shall be allowed to be sold for housing development, nor without a covenant being included in any agreement to prevent any future purchasers of the land being allowed to do so.
Before we get the traditional bleat about ‘ need for low-cost housing’ may we also ask that a survey be conducted and the results of such a survey be published, of the number of people IN SIDMOUTH in need of such housing and, if built, such housing should only be sold to local people.
