£10,000 prize for top promoter of county in Visit Devon contest

CELEBRITY chef Michael Caines is among judges searching for passionate Devonians prepared to declare their love for the county in a national campaign by Visit Devon to promote Devon to the rest of the UK.

CELEBRITY chef Michael Caines is among judges searching for passionate Devonians prepared to declare their love for the county in a national campaign by Visit Devon to promote Devon to the rest of the UK.

Open auditions will take place at the Abode Hotel in Exeter on Wednesday, November 26.

Also on the judging panel is Nicola Poultney of Visit Devon, who will be looking for people willing to go out and shout about their love for Devon.

Anyone with a passion for the county is invited to the auditions, whether young or old, individuals, groups or families.

Three finalists will be chosen from these and the Barnstaple and Plymouth auditions and given a budget and the task of promoting Devon to the nation for a period of one month in January 2009, with the ultimate goal of attracting more visitors to the county.

The person or group that delivers the most successful publicity campaign will be awarded a £10,000 prize.

Auditions will be on:

* Tuesday November 25, Barnstaple Hotel, Barnstaple, 10am - 5pm

* Wednesday November 26, The Abode, Exeter, 10am - 5pm

* Saturday November 29, National Marine Aquarium, Plymouth, 10am -5pm.
