More than £250,000 has been earmarked to repair East Devon’s pot-holed highways network after a £100million programme was created to tackle the aftermath of the ‘Beast from the East’.
Roads in Sidmouth and the Otter Valley will benefit from a portion of a £4.4m pot of funding which has been provided by the Government to help ease the impact of winter damage on the county’s roads.
The funding for Devon is a share of the Department for Transport’s £100m national programme for repairs following the severe winter weather.
Sidmouth will receive £49,292 while the Otter Valley will be given £58,774.
Devon county councillor Stuart Hughes, who represents Sidmouth and is responsible for highways management, said: “Every effort will be made to ensure this funding has the biggest impact to improve the condition of our roads.”
Earlier this year, the council announced it was putting an extra £6.5m into road repairs and drainage in 2018/19.
