Ottery’s new mayor says his long term plan is to help the town work together as he completes his first month in post.
Councillor Paul Bartlett succeeded Cllr Glyn Dobson, who had been mayor for 11 years, last month. Cllr Josefina Gori was elected as deputy mayor.
The Longdogs Lane resident has lived in the town for 69 years, living with his wife of 44 years Sue, their three children and four grandchildren.
Cllr Bartlett has been on Ottery Town Council for more than six years and is the chairman of the finance committee.
He is also a member of planning and property and land committees and represents the council at Feoffee group meetings.
Cllr Bartlett said: “It is about everyone working together to do the best for Ottery.
“It is also about trying to utilise finances effectively by supporting local organisations through grants or one-off contributions.”
