Youngsters have created artwork as part of a community campaign urging motorists to kill their speed, not villagers, in Sidbury.

Sidbury WI ran a competition at the village’s primary school for pupils to come up with creative designs to promote slower speeds.

Members picked winners from each year group before presenting them with a £5 voucher to purchase art equipment.

Desley Jones, Sidbury WI president, said: “We had funny ones, very bright ones, serious ones; they came in all shapes and sizes - even some big wooden ones, but the thing that came through was how they all understood what we are trying to achieve. We know that some of the children were helped by parents, which we were hoping would happen as it made the parents more aware of what we are doing and the reasons why.”

The winning and highly commended entries will go on display.
