Volunteers who helped net a record-breaking £19,303.61 for last year’s Poppy Appeal in Sidmouth will be honoured on Monday (October 16).
The event in the Balfour pub from 3pm will also be a chance for new collectors and supporters of the Royal British Legion to come forward.
The Poppy Appeal coordinator said: “We want to say thank you for all the support we have had from the people of Sidmouth to raise £19,303.61, exceeding our target of £16,000. It’s all down to the efforts of a fantastic team. There were collections and events throughout the year, culminating in screenings of Dunkirk at the Radway Cinema, which on its own brought in £1,500.
“We want to express our appreciation to everyone who supported our comrades in the armed forces and their families.”
The collections for 2017/18 will begin on Saturday, October 28, and the HQ, 70 Temple Street, will be open for enquiries.
