The incident occurred today shortly before 12.25pm.
Firefighters from Ottery and Honiton have responded to reports of a car on fire this afternoon (Thursday).
Crews were called to the A30 westbound between Pattesons Cross and Daisymount shortly before 12.25pm.
The fire, which began underneath a rear seat, was out on the fire service arrival.
A Devon and Somerset Fire Service spokesman said: βOn arrival the crews confirmed there had been a small fire underneath a rear seat but it was out prior to their arrival. The crews made sure the fire was fully out and carried out traffic duties while awaiting arrival of the Highways Agency.β
