Dozens of people joined together to celebrate being a community as part of The Big Lunch in Sidmouth.
The Eden Project initiative was replicated up and down the country on Saturday allowing neighbours and communities of all ages to come together and share food and drink.
Two ‘get togethers’ were held in the town, one on The Ham and the other at Blackmore Field rugby ground, as part of the nationwide event which was based on an idea developed by Brendan Cox, the husband of the late MP Jo Cox.
Robert Crick, a resident who attended the event, said: “Dozens of people went along, of all ages from newborn babies to 100-year-olds. Some had lived in Sidmouth all their lives and some had only recently moved here.
“It was very friendly and relaxed… It was a celebration of community. It was delightful.
“We would like to carry on doing it every year in some way.”
