Sidmouth firefighters attended two separate shouts about an injured seagull yesterday (Sunday, May 7).
Crews could not find the bird when they checked the roof of a three-storey building in Chapel Street.
They received another shout later on from a different address, where they found the seagull, but it was too badly injured and did not survive.
The crew also received a callout as they were returning from a training exercise in Plymouth, when the vehicle’s GPS placed them as the closest pump to Chudleigh, where an automatic fire alarm had been activated.
They searched the property and deemed the alarm to be a false activation.
