Police, paramedics and three fire engines attended the incident in Peak Hill Road this morning (Thursday, May 11).
A man and woman were taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries following a single vehicle collision in Sidmouth.
Emergency services were called out this morning (Thursday) to Peak Hill Road after reports a man and woman were trapped inside a vehicle.
Two fire engines from Sidmouth and one from Exmouth used hydraulic cutting equipment to release the car’s occupants.
A fire service spokesman said: “We were called to a RTC involving one car which was on the footpath by the high way. A man and woman have been released by fire fighters and left in the hands of ambulance personnel.”
A rapid response car and two ambulances arrived on scene to attend to the casualties who were taken to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.
An ambulance spokesman said a female casualty suffered a head injury.
Police also attended and put in place a full road closure at the Manor Road junction.
A police spokeswoman said: “Both occupants were extracted from the car and taken to hospital. Injuries not believed to be life-threatening. The road was re-opened.”
