Some 24 Sid Valley organisations will net a share of more than £15,000 of community cash.
The groups all applied for support from Sidmouth Town Council, which decided on its grants on Monday.
The £15,100 total exceeds its £14,000 budget for 2017/18, but members brought forward £1,100 from their tourism reserve to supplement it.
Last year’s total spend on such grants was £14,680.
Cheques will be presented at the council’s annual assembly in the coming months.
The recipients are:
• Sidmouth in Bloom £2,250;
• Sidmouth Science Festival £2,000;
• East Devon Citizens Advice £1,000;
• Sidmouth Arboretum £1,000;
• Sidmouth Regatta £1,000;
• Sidmouth Surf Lifesaving Club £1,000;
• Sidmouth Town Twinning Circle £1,000;
• Sidmouth and East Devon Walking Festival £800;
• Sidmouth Sailing Club £800;
• Sidbury Allotment Association £500;
• Sidmouth Drill Hall Hub CIC £500;
• Sidmouth Carnival £500;
• Sid Valley Memory Café £400;
• Sid Vale Sharks Swimming Club £400;
• Sidmouth Literary Festival £300;
• Byes Preschool £250;
• Relate Exeter and District £250;
• Friends of The Byes £200;
• Sid Valley Horticultural Society £200;
• Sidford Tennis Club £200;
• Wren Music £200;
• Sidmouth Parish Church (clock) £150;
• Friends of Sidholme Music Room £100;
• Sidford Short Mat Bowling Club £100.
The council has also supported Sidmouth Museum to the tune of £800 through the South West Museum Development Programme and other groups through its annual budget.
