Sidmouth Carnival could end if volunteers do not come forward before the annual general meeting of its organisers next week.
The committee will make a final decision on the fate of the event when it meets on Tuesday (May 3) at the 1922 Social Club in Church Street.
The future of the popular September tradition, which sees thousands of people line the streets, is hanging in the balance due to a lack of interest in helping run it. The committee has said it has found it increasingly difficult to find volunteers. It is looking for new officers, including a treasurer, committee members and collectors for carnival night, scheduled for September 24.
The annual general meeting will begin at 7.30pm.
