A disabled parishioner has been left £200 out of pocket after tools he was using to repair a vandalised church notice board were stolen in broad daylight.
The plastic-fronted display outside the Methodist Church, in High Street, was smashed last month.
A church member, who asked to remain anonymous, volunteered to fit a new Perspex cover and left his tools on a wall behind the church hall while carrying out the work on Wednesday, April 8.
But when he went to collect his equipment, which included a new Bosch drill and a yellow lightweight vacuum cleaner, he found it had been taken.
The tools went missing at some point between noon and 6pm.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police by calling 101, crime reference: CR 248 9415.
The church member has also appealed for whoever took the items to return them to the foyer of the Methodist Church.
