Element Creative Hair has gone from ‘strength to strength’ since it opened in 2009 in the midst of the recession.

Owner Sarah Instone has used her 27 years of experience to create a chic modern salon in the heart of Sidmouth’s High Street.

Since starting up her business six years ago, Sarah now employs three full-time staff and two apprentices.

Sarah said: “I cannot believe where the time has gone and we have achieved so much.

“My team work incredibly hard, are totally motivated and all are individually talented.”

The artistic director places high importance on the quality of the products used and the training of her staff, undertaking several courses throughout the year to learn new techniques.

Sarah added: “We have to be the best at what we do and we have to stay two steps ahead all the time.

“It is vitally important that all the team are up to date so they can pass on their knowledge to their clients so they can recreate the salon finish day after day.”

The salon won the Health, Beauty and Wellbeing of the Year category at the Sid Valley Business Awards earlier this year.

As part of its winning package, the Element team offers a variety of services including cutting, colouring and highlights.

Sarah said: “I have been interested in doing hair since I was a little girl and helping other people and making somebody feel great.”
