Every little helps for Beer Scouts as they continue to raise money to refurbish their hut.
Scouts of all ages helped pack bags for shoppers at Tesco on Saturday and raised £800. The money will go towards buying a boiler. Since being saved in 2005, the hut has undergone a large refurbishment project, including the removal of asbestos cladding and the insulation of the outside of the building.
The group says there is still much to be done, including fixing a leak in the main roof and redecorating the inside.
Scout leader Fiona Gage said: “As we now have approximately 80 young people enjoying scouting each week it was about time it was brought up to date.”
Group scout leader Nigel Groves is looking for volunteers to help with the building and the groups. If you are interested call on 01297 21159 or visit the Beer Post Office.
