Environmentally-friendly motor to be used around Sidmouth
EAST Devon District Council (EDDC) has taken delivery of its first-ever electric vehicle.
The new Renault Kangoo ZE will be used around Sidmouth by the authority’s mobile StreetScene team.
Supplied on a five-year lease by Vospers of Exeter, the move has been hailed as the first step in moving the council’s fleet over to the greener and more cost effective electric range.
Portfolio holder for environment, Councillor Iain Chubb, said: “I am excited by the introduction to our fleet of an affordable vehicle, which makes less noise and uses increasingly scarce energy more efficiently. This is important at a time when resources are under pressure and demonstrates to our communities and local businesses that we really care about safeguarding their futures.”
