A FLOOD surgery will be held in Sidmouth next week to enable more people to provide information to local authorities about the recent weather chaos.

The event, organised by county and district councils and the Environment Agency (EA), will take place at Stowford Community Centre on Wednesday (August 1) from noon to 6.30pm.

The surgery is an opportunity for residents and businesses, who have either been affected by flooding or have on-going concerns about it, to share their views and experiences with officers.

It will also give the councils and the EA an opportunity to gather information about the flooding incident.

People who attend the open sessions are invited to bring along any photographs, video clips or notes taken during the drama.

Laptops will be available to download information.

Stuart Hughes, county councillor for Sidmouth and Sidford and chairman of the Devon Flood Risk Management Partnership, said: “The recent flooding has impacted on many communities and we want to reassure everyone affected that we will listen to their concerns.

“We need to hear their thoughts on what happened and the response to see what lessons can be learnt.

This is a chance for residents not only from Sidmouth but also from Budleigh Salterton, Harpford and other surrounding communities to talk to officers from all of the relevant bodies and have their say. Their information will also help us to build a picture of events and what could possibly be done to be better prepared in future.”
