TABLE TENNIS: Ottery’s table tennis club says it has ‘outgrown’ the Institute and is looking for a new venue. Mayor Glyn Dobson read out a letter from the club expressing its interest in using the new sports facility Ottery Town Council is creating on land at Strawberry Lane.

FLOWER CLUB: Ottery Flower Club is holding a meeting at the Primary School on Wednesday, March 21. There will be a demonstration by Anthony Facey-Macleod from Cornwall, entitled Recycled and Renewed, starting at 7.30pm, visitors are welcome.

PRAYER: Ottery Town Council said it will continue to monitor the position of its prayer at monthly meetings. Mayor Glyn Dobson said he believed, as Ottery’s council prayer is read before the meeting is opened, it does not fall foul of last month’s High Court ruling surrounding Bideford Parish Council. But he confirmed the council will continue to make sure it stays within the rules while keeping the prayer.

SCIENCE EVENING: As part of National Science and Engineering Week The King’s School is hosting An Evening with Johnny Ball on Wednesday, March 14, at 7.30pm. The British television personality and father of DJ Zoe Ball will try and enthuse the audience about science, maths and technology. Tickets for the event cost �4, and are available from the school’s finance office. All proceeds will go to the school.
