SIDFORD Social Hall leaders have been left with an unwanted bill after part of the venue’s front wall was demolished by an unknown culprit.
The damage was the second time the stone structure has been clobbered in the last nine months.
“They made a better job of it this time,” Colin Kingman, social hall treasurer, told the Herald on Monday.
He believes a vehicle must have collided with the wall and the driver subsequently scarpered.
The incident happened at the Byes Lane venue between 5pm and 6.15pm last Friday, March 1.
“We’ve been left wondering who’s demolished our wall,” said Mr Kingman.
“Now we’ve got to get estimates for the rebuild and decide whether to put in an insurance claim – which would see us lose our no claims bonus and eventually put up our premium.
“It’s most likely we’ll have to pay out of our own pocket from our own hard-earned funds.”
