MARIE Curie Cancer Care is looking for Sidmouth volunteers to look after collection boxes in shops in the town.

The charity provides cancer patients with care in their own homes. The money generated by the Great Daffodil Appeal boxes will help fund its work.

Volunteers will visit the shops at the start of 2011 to deliver the boxes, ensuring they are correctly labelled, sealed and secured as necessary, then collect them at the end of the appeal. The role can be fitted into people’s spare time, as and when it’s convenient. The aim is to develop relationships with each of the stores to ensure continued support for the charity.

Community fundraiser Michelle Mahdon said: “By sparing a little of your time, you will be doing something extremely worthwhile, while also gaining valuable experience in fundraising activities. It is also a great way to meet new people.” For more information about becoming a collection box volunteer call Michelle on 01884 703535.
