Officers raced to a Shutes Mead address at around 4.30pm after receiving reports of a domestic incident in which a knife could have been involved.
A police spokeswoman said: "No threats were made. The man was concerned for his welfare and threatening to self-harm. He was initially arrested, then released, no further action will be taken.
