TALENTED young musicians from across East Devon competed against each other at a youth music event held in Ottery on Wednesday.

The Otter Valley Rotary Youth Presents Music contest, held at The Kings School, attracted a record number of entries from 12 East Devon schools, including Sidmouth College, Kings, Tipton St John Primary and West Hill Primary.

The musical festival, which was celebrating its 20th anniversary, was judged by three well known personalities in the East Devon music field.

Robert Gittings was chairman and is well known for his Exeter Music festival expertise, Roger Hendy, conductor of the EMG orchestra and Pamela Marino.

The large audience truly enjoyed the melodic sounds and enthusiasm of the performers, which was recognised in an array of awards.

Tim Smith, President of the Rotary Club, who acted as master of ceremonies pronounced the event the best ever and thanked all of the competitors for performing.
