Devon County Council will begin delivering bananas to the area's livraries next week in in the hope they will be consumed to set a world record.
Ottery's library will host its part in the attempt on March 6 when a range of Fairtrade Goods will also be available to taste and buy..
The stunt is part of celebrations for Fairtrade Fortnight which runs from Monday, February 23 to Friday 8, March 8.
The aim is to get a million people eating a Fairtrade banana between the dates.
