Well if the phrase “a week in politics” actually means anything then the last week should have had most people running for the hills as the discord and disarray that has engulfed the Houses of Parliament has been difficult to avoid.

How has this turmoil affected your business? Hopefully not at all as the weeks rumble on and we continue to improve things after Covid which let’s face it started this whole fiasco of some separating people from their senses for certain periods of time.

Sidmouth, like many small towns up and down the country continues to thrive, albeit with the traditional season now having past, yet the activities of those in large buildings by the Thames seems to go unnoticed and we must be grateful as we have better things to do.

Are you out of touch with your business model? Have you lost direction, or simply not know which direction to head in? Accepting the situation and acting on it maybe a daunting challenge but can be a life saver for so many who ultimately take things personally.

The topic of Christmas opening is going to loom forward again very soon and all that it brings, or for some businesses, doesn’t bring and whether it works for you or not is probably open to discussion. After the last few years perhaps a rethink of how it is operated maybe not a bad idea, as there are those that feel its wasted exercise, designed to bring people into the town to see street acts and fun fair rides by the sea at night, which seems to be in complete contrast to the way it is promoted. This is very evident when you enter it into Google as Late Night Shopping, with so many shops now not bothering to take part surely it should be re-branded as it now appears very little shopping actually takes place and is more akin to a festive night out by the sea.
